Hauraki Express, a water-taxi business has told Auckland Council it would like to operate bike ferries across the Waitematā harbour from next year. Each ferry (powered by electric motors) could carry 24 cyclists, with fares ranging from $5.80 to $10. The company needs $2.65 million over four years to support the operation. Read more below.
